Farm
The Cambodia Crawfish Farm is located 2 Km from our Office and Hatchery in the middle of the vast rice fields of Prey Veng province. Our Farm covers 3 Hectare and has a fully equipped Farmhouse. The Farm and Farmhouse are ready to receive, educate and show Cambodian Farmers how they can significantly increase their income.
An important purpose of the Farm is to serve as ''Showcase''. We want Cambodian rice farmers to see with their own eyes how they can make significantly more money than by farming rice only. We believe that - real life - showing and sharing how it works in Cambodia Crawfish is many times more convincing than big articles, long presentations or many pictures.
For interested Farmers we schedule Classes in the Farmhouse and of course there is a tour of the farm. We are ready to share our knowledge on Crawfish Farming with Farmers that will buy our Crawfish Juveniles. Our knowledge is shared with easy-to-follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
The sale of live Crawfish from the farm also serves as a welcome source of revenue for Freshwater Crawfish.
In the many ponds of the Farm we grow-out the juvenile Crawfishes from our Hatchery into adults, ready for sale. It takes around 4-5 months to grow the juvenile Crawfishes that are released in the ponds to the desired size/weight.
Sustainable
Healthy Organic Crawfish
The Farm uses electricity and water sparingly and well controlled. Sometimes an electrical aerator is used in the ponds to ensure dissolved Oxygen remains at required levels. Water is generally only refreshed in ponds for each new batch of Crawfish. Abundant green vegetation is grown and used in our ponds to help maintain our water quality. The water we use for growing Crawfish comes from on-site water wells. All water changed in ponds can be used as irrigation and fertilizer for rice fields.
Our Crawfishes are produced without the use of chemical fertilizers, antibiotics, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals.
Quality Control
The well and pond water quality are carefully controlled to ensure an optimal environment for our Crawfishes. We check our Crawfishes regularly and keep track of their weight. The Crawfish average weight is important to determine the amount of feed needed. Many water parameters are controlled: Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Ammonia Content, Salinity, etc.
We endeavor to keep our farm at a high Biosecurity level. We aim to uphold high standards in keeping our Crawfishes in a low-pathogen environment. For this reason, we control the access to our farm carefully.
